Fleet Compliance

Forward Konnect helps businesses keep ELD (Electronic Logging Device), hours-of-service, inspections, and compliance records organized and accessible when you need them. Instead of assembling paperwork after the fact, records are captured automatically as vehicles operate, so the documentation already exists when an audit, a dispute, or a roadside inspection arrives.

01

The problem

Compliance gaps rarely come from ignoring the rules. They come from records that are incomplete or created after the fact: a driver's log filled in from memory at the end of the week, an inspection report on a clipboard in the cab, a maintenance receipt in a glovebox. Everything was probably done. Proving it is another matter.

For operations subject to federal hours-of-service and ELD requirements, that gap carries real consequences at roadside inspections and audits. For any fleet, it means vehicle downtime that disrupts schedules when a record cannot be found, and office time spent reconstructing paperwork instead of running the business.

Compliance is a record-keeping problem long before it is a legal one.

02

What we set up

We set up the systems that capture compliance records as part of normal operation, organize them so they can be retrieved, and connect them to the rest of your fleet data. A typical setup covers:

01

ELD and hours-of-service

Electronic logging devices configured for your operation, with driver logs recorded automatically and reviewable by the office.

02

Driver vehicle inspection reports

Pre-trip and post-trip inspections completed on a device, with defects routed to maintenance instead of sitting on paper.

03

Inspection and maintenance records

Service history, inspections, and repairs kept with the vehicle record, accessible when a question comes up — managed through fleet maintenance.

04

Driver documentation

Qualification files, licenses, medical cards, and expirations tracked with reminders before a lapse.

05

Record retention

Compliance records stored for the required periods and organized so an audit request does not become a search party.

06

Exception alerts

Notifications when logs are incomplete, inspections are missed, or a document is about to expire.

Because compliance data comes from the same GPS tracking and telematics that drives everything else, you are not adding a separate system to maintain.

Records captured as the fleet operates, not assembled when someone asks.

03

How it works

  1. 01

    Assess

We understand which rules apply to your operation, how records are kept today, and where the gaps and manual steps are.

  2. 02

    Design

We define what must be captured, who reviews it, how exceptions are handled, and how long records are retained — before anything is installed.

  3. 03

    Install and configure

ELD and inspection tools are set up on your vehicles and devices, coordinated around your schedule so trucks stay on the road.

  4. 04

    Train

Drivers learn the devices and the workflow; office staff learn to review logs, resolve exceptions, and retrieve records.

  5. 05

    Support

As vehicles, drivers, and requirements change, we stay involved to keep the setup current and the records complete.

A compliance workflow your drivers can follow and your office can verify.

04

Who it's for

Fleet compliance support fits any operation that has to produce vehicle and driver records on request, whether or not federal rules apply.

  • Carriers and logistics businesses subject to hours-of-service and ELD requirements
  • Construction and field companies running regulated commercial vehicles
  • Service fleets that need inspection and maintenance history for insurance or customers
  • Growing businesses adding their first regulated vehicles
  • Any fleet still keeping logs and inspections on paper

If your operation is not subject to ELD rules, the same approach still applies to inspections, maintenance history, and driver documentation. We scope only what you actually need.

If you are responsible for the record, you should be able to find it.

05

What it delivers

Connected compliance records give you the visibility to reduce risk and keep vehicles productive:

  • Simpler compliance with records captured automatically as vehicles operate.
  • Complete documentation when an audit, inspection, or dispute arrives, because it was created at the time rather than reconstructed.
  • Fewer missed items with alerts for incomplete logs, skipped inspections, and expiring documents.
  • Defects routed to maintenance so inspection findings are fixed instead of filed.
  • Less office time spent chasing paperwork from drivers.
  • Better driver accountability with clear, objective records of hours and inspections.

Compliance records are part of the same fleet picture as fuel management and maintenance, which is why we design them together.

Fleet management gives you the visibility to control costs, protect vehicles, and keep your business moving.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Do you provide legal advice on which regulations apply to us?

No. We help you set up the systems and records that support compliance, and we will tell you plainly where a question needs a qualified compliance or legal professional. Our role is making sure the records exist, are complete, and can be found.

Are we locked into one ELD provider?

No. We are not tied to one GPS, telematics, or ELD brand. We match the solution to your vehicles, operations, and budget, explain the differences in writing, and manage setup on the option you choose.

What happens when a driver's log is incomplete?

The system flags it and the office sees it the same day, so it can be corrected while the details are still fresh rather than discovered at an audit. Exception handling rules are defined with you during design.

Can inspection defects go straight to maintenance?

Yes. A defect noted on a digital inspection can create a work item in your maintenance schedule automatically, so the repair is tracked from the driver's report to completion — and the record of both is kept with the vehicle.
